Peace. Love. Books

I am a book worm at heart :) I read as much and often as I can!! So here is a page to find some amazing books to read!

  1. 13 Reasons Why by Jay Asher - This book is about a boy named Clay who comes home to find a box on his front step. In the box is 13 cassette tapes recorded by his classmate Hannah. A girl who committed suicide. Hannah states in the first tape that there are 13 reasons why she chose to end her life. Clay Jensen is one of them. In the book you'll read about heart break, regret and acceptance. This is one of my all time faves.
  2. The Fault In Our Stars by John Green - I'm sure most of you know this book but wow what a read it is! This book takes you on the emotional journey of Hazel Lancaster and Gus Waters. Hazel meets Gus, a cancer patient in remission, in a cancer support group. They are immediately drawn to each other. The roller coaster of events and genius writing will have you out buying all of John Greens excellent books.
  3. Elizabeth Smart, My Story, as told by Chris Stewart - This is the biography of 14 year old Elizabeth Smart who was kidnapped from her bed in Utah of 2006 by a radical man, who held her captive for 9 months. It is heartbreaking and horrifying as you go through the day by day events that this incredibly strong girl had to endure.
  4. Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson - Speak is about a young girl named Melinda who goes to a party with some friends the summer before starting high school. Melinda is raped and when she calls the police for help, she gets labeled as a snitch who ruined the greatest party of the summer, without anyone really knowing why. Slowly Melinda begins to stop speaking to everyone all together. This book is journey through self acceptance and self worth. Definitely an amazing read (also a great book for teachers to do as a class project.)
